Zeobest Ultra is an effective antimicrobial water treatment removing 99% of all bacteria.
Zeobest Ultra is a waste water treatment revolution which treats water without Chlorine. It is suitable for all water purification and removes 99% of all bacteria. Note: drinking water requires 100%. Zeobest Ultra already helps address some of the waste water issues in Australia.
How does it do it?
Zeobest Ultra applies new filter media technology. A permanently bonding silane quaternary is applied to the surface of granular filter media. This is done by bonding the chemical to the surface by heating the media and then letting it cure. This transforms the Zeolite from a water soluble monomeric species to an insoluble, macromolecular antimicrobial film.
THE ZEOBEST ULTRA FILM IS STABLE AND DURABLE.
How it works
Cellular disruption (lysis): The Zeobest Ultra shield cuts the cell wall and cytoplasmic membrane as the microorganism comes in contact with the media. Microorganisms will not become resistant to this technology. It produces no chemical by-products of disinfection. The results have been verified and confirmed, testing performed by Arizona State University National Science Foundation Water Quality Center. This research has been peer reviewed by the Journal of Environmental Science & Health.
Zeobest Ultra inactivates and removes (single pass filtration at < 3 min contact time):
- Virus: 99.84%
- Bacteria: 99.5%
- E coli: 99.98%
- Cryptosporidium: 97.9%
- Algae: 99.11%
ZEOBEST ULTRA IS A NEW FILTER MEDIA TECHNOLOGY.
Testing Results
- Non-leaching, non-additive, no chemical by-products of disinfection
- National Sanitation Foundation (NSF)
- Standard 42 (POE-POU)
- Standard 50 (Swimming pools & Spas)
- Standard 61 (Drinking water)

Other antimicrobial technologies currently in use are inferior.
Example 1: Chemical inactivation (i.e. chlorine, etc.).
- The chemical is introduced into the water.
- The time to inactivate (CDC):
- E. coli 0157:H7 bacteria, < 1 minute
- Hepatitis A virus , 16 minutes
- Giardia (parasite), 45 minutes
- Cryptosporidium (parasite), 9600 minutes (6.7 days)
- Microorganisms can become resistant over time
Example 2: Ultraviolet Radiation
- UV light breaks through cell wall and cytoplasmic membrane, rearranging the DNA to render the microorganism unable to reproduce
- UV effectiveness against parasites including cryptosporidium and giardia is questionable
- Significant infrastructure investment and long term maintenance investment
- Chlorine is a carcinogen
Testing on Zeobest Ultra is currently being performed by the following instuitues:
- Analytical Services - Developing Country Filtration
- Iowa State University - Ethanol Production
- Lincoln University - Aquaculture
- Everfilt - Irrigation (E coli)
- Arizona State University - Potable Water SBIR Grant Application
- Contec Stormwater Solutions - Stormwater
- Pond Perfector - Backyard Ponds
- Sonitec - Cooling Towers
- Chicago MWRD - Wastewater Treatment
